Beautiful Family, Tea & Fun

I love connecting with families spending time together! These families have such a good time together and the girl cousins loved playing and taking care of each other. We had a tea party, played in the leaves and ventured out in the fields behind their home. The colors they chose were a perfect blend with the fall leaves and setting sun!

I really want a photo of like this with my kids and their grandparents!

Stacia Wick - Love these shots, Sarah! What a nice day we all had too. Thank-you, thank-you!!

The Vanderwerfs

It was such an honor to have the opportunity to photograph the Vanderwerf family! I have to admit I was more than a little excited when Paul arrived at the session on this bike!  There was the perfect little spot for Caleb! I love including grandparents in the pictures as well. Mary said she was “giddy” to be a grandma. Paul and his sisters, Amy and Sara, have been friends of mine for a long time(since the “Grand Girls” days for those who remember). Paul and Julia serve with a ministry called Go Corps - a great opportunity for a post-college young adult willing to serve for a few years. Caleb is already a well traveled little guy!  Maybe next time we can get Auntie Amy and Auntie Sara to come along!

Bobbing for Books 5 – At the Laundromat

Whether you pronounce it “Nuffle Bunny” or “Kuh-nuffle Bunny”, the book Knuffle Bunny by Mo Willems is a crowd pleaser for any parent who has misplaced their child’s special “lovie”. Be it a stuffed animal or blankie, nothing will comfort the distressed child until it is found again. We have such special items in our household (we’ve actually been known to buy more than one of the same item – hoping to convince one that the replacement item is the same as the original – usually without much luck).  Trixie and her dad take a trip to the laundromat and somehow leave Trixie’s bunny in the washing machine. Because she isn’t formally speaking yet, Trixie’s cries and  other attempts to get her father’s attention such as”going boneless” do not seem to make him realize the mistake that has been made.  Zeke and I took a trip to the laundromat to experience it first hand (one of the best ways to teach new vocabulary.) He’s been talking about the laundromat ever since. We actually did a load of laundry and feigned leaving Teddy in one of the washers. Mostly it was extremely fun – and though I never planned for portraits at the laundromat they are a few of my latest favorites of Zeke!  If you end up enjoying this book – there are a few more in the series with Trixie …  and Williams’  ”Elephant and Piggie” or “Don’t Let the Pigeon….”  books don’t disappoint.

Annette - We love Knuffle Bunny!
Great post!

Sonja - These are great! I love laundromat pictures, but I can’t believe you closed Zekey in a dryer! Wait until Mom sees – I guess Luke can relate to that experience! :)

sarahswanson - I know…. I thought about that… I promise, I didn’t shut it tightly!

The Roise Family

The Roise family drove all the way from Mankato for their session. I have crossed paths with Geoff and Rebecca in many different ways over the years. It was so great to get a chance to meet their children and spend some time with their family.
